Busy Day – But a great day on all levels…

The Morning started with the alarm at 5.30 followed by a quick shower and a cup of Tea. 15 minutes later i was on my way to the Kingston Breakfast meeting.

I arrived in Kingston in good time for the 7.45 start. The informal set up works really well for people. everyone was involved and able to discuss the subjects at hand. It was great to see potential Rotarian’s at the meeting joining in and playing a active part of the meeting. The final bonus from the meeting was when the president inducted their latest new member.

As usual during the meeting I heard a number of Golden Nuggets that can go into the Initiative Library with the potential to be adopted by other Rotarian’s these included –

  • End Polio Now promotion within the Local Chemists to build awareness
  • Micro Financing through Lend with Care
  • A targeted Youth prospectus for our Youth Offerings
  • A template for CV Writing and Mock interviews within local Schools and Colleges

Following the good start to the day I made my way to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice to be present at the Music in the Park presentation from Farnborough Rotary.

Phylis Tuckwell is the only Hospice Care service for adult patients, and their families, living with cancer or another advanced or terminal illness across the whole of West Surrey and part of North East Hampshire.

The Music in the Park event held every two years year has raised an amazing £500,000 for the Hospice and there is a clear special relationship and bond between the organisations well done to all. The event closed with the presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow to Mervin George. Well deserved congratulations.

Time was moving on so back in the car pick up Chris as it was time to visit Shoreham & Southwick Rotary, not before we completed a short detour to visit a Highdown Rotarian the is recuperating from a Fall.
Keep up the good work Angie see you back at Highdown soon.

While at Shoreham plans were being put in place for the Xmas float, investigations into a Global Grant to support the health within the local Community. and planning for their next informal Coffee morning. Chris picked up some ideas around an art project.

Plus of course the Golden Nugget a joint venture with the local Southwick players

We had a great night. So after a short journey home it was time to take a deep breath. All in All a great day. and goes to show that together, we inspire.
